In the annals of mystery-solving investigators, there are few who have stood the test of time as well as the members of Mystery Incorporated. Now, some may argue that the likes of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple have more literary credentials, but did either of those two have a talking dog on their team? Yeah, I didn’t think so. I was three years old when the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? series first aired. It immediately became one of my all-time favourite cartoons and to this day, I still get a lot of joy out of watching both old and new adventures starring everyone’s favourite canine sleuth. But let’s ask ourselves, “What makes these cartoons so great?”
As a huge fan of all things Scooby-Doo, I’ve spent the last couple of years tracking down and watching the many various incarnations of Scooby-Doo in the hopes of discovering why this particular group of kids and their talking dog have lasted so long, and one must look back across those five decades of Scooby-Doo history to truly see what made Scooby-Doo stand above so many others. To paraphrase a certain Genie, Scooby-Doo is “the ever impressive, the long contained, often imitated, but never duplicated, Scooby-Doo!”
Below you will find my collected reviews of the Scooby-Doo television shows and movies and though this list may not include each and every Scooby-Doo appearance over the years, it’s as comprehensive as I could make it. So click on either the link or the posters below to dive into full reviews of these fun-filled adventures of Scooby and the gang.
